I hear a lot of support for blessing same-gender couples that appeals to our equality in baptism as a prime warrant. <br /><br />This reminds me of back in the Fall of 2010 when <a href="http://archive.episcopalchurch.org/79425_125295_ENG_HTM.htm" rel="nofollow">the Standing Commission on Liturgy and Music of The Episcopal Church met with representatives of Province I for hearings about people's experiences with same-gender blessings</a>. At that meeting, Bishop Stephen Lane of the Diocese of Maine said this about the baptismal warrant for blessing same-sex unions:<br /><br />"I think it is heretical and immoral to have different standards for different groups of baptized people," he said, adding that he fears the church will "lose its nerve" and settle for something that is "separate but equal."Fr.
